iMindMap Online is only a few months old and a completely new and fresh addition to the iMindMap product range.
Bringing with it brand new features like online collaboration and cloud syncing between Online and the desktop, we thought why not give you some ideas to kickstart your iMindMap Online journey…
Ideas do not always materialise when you are sat at your home or work computer. Nor are you always working or thinking in the same location. You may travel around for your job, study at friends’ houses, or perhaps visit an internet café abroad.
With iMindMap Online’s sync feature, you can log in from any computer with an internet connection to access and edit any of your maps, or create new ones. Think of it as the lightweight 21st century alternative to lugging around a filing cabinet!
If you are working on a group project, iMindMap Online is a great tool to use to plan, share out responsibility, gather everyone’s ideas together, outline the final product or report, all in one place. Everyone can log in to their own iMindMap Online accounts to add and edit information or ideas, on the same Mind Map – even at the same time!
Perfect for group brainstorming in real time or for bypassing conflicting schedules so everyone can contribute in their own time.
Ever tried to organise a group holiday or event with people who don’t all live in the same place? It can be a nightmare communicating via emails, texts and facebook, with 10 different people, at all different times of day and night, trying to consider everyone’s opinions and requirements. Adrian can’t do those dates, Sheena will never go to Spain again after the last time and Tom wants somewhere with a pub that’s showing that big game on the Sunday.
Use iMindMap Online and you can get everyone to add their own requirements to a shared map when they have the time. You can have branches for dates people are free, desired locations, activities, price range and whatever else needs to be decided.
One way that we use iMindMap Online every week in ThinkBuzan, is for our weekly tasks. The head of each department will share a map on iMindMap Online with everyone in their team. The map will have a branch for each member of the team, with their tasks and key focuses for the week.
This provides a clear picture of what the whole department is focused on, so everyone is informed. Each member is then free to add to their section, so they can keep the map, and the department, up to date on what’s going on within their area of responsibility. They can even copy and paste their section into a new map to create a schedule of when they will do each task.
Another great use for the collaboration function in iMindMap Online, is getting feedback. Two heads are better than one as they say, and when you’re working on something, be it a new business idea or a plan for some history coursework, you should seek a fresh perspective.
Ever put together a Mind Map of a new office procedure, or maybe the minutes from a management meeting? Well the fastest and easiest way to share the information with your team or colleagues is with iMindMap Online.
You can share maps by either making Friends ‘collaborators’ so they can add to and edit the map, or for fixed info you can allow them to simply view the map.
It’s pretty unlikely that a student will make it to every single lecture, or manage not to miss a couple points along the way. Well why not set up a notes-sharing group on iMindMap Online? Mind Maps are a great way to summarise large quantities of information in a clear and structured way.
Create maps of all your topics or classes and as a group you can fill in any gaps or elaborate on areas that someone else may not have fully understood. These will also be an invaluable revision tool when it comes to exam time!
Similarly, if you’re attending a conference, work-related seminar or in-house training, you can easily feed what you’ve learnt back out to the rest of the company in one Mind Map shared in iMindMap Online. They are far more likely to take a look than if you send out pages and pages of black and white text!
If you bought or upgraded to iMindMap 5, we will have given you a free subscription to iMindMap Online. If you haven’t already explored our new platform, then why not try out some of these ideas for yourself? Create your account and log in now!
