ThinkBuzan Licensed Instructor: Mücahit Aköz
Accreditation: Bangkok, Thailand 2013
Profession: Trainer & Psychology student in Istanbul Bilgi University
In this guest post, ThinkBuzan Licensed Instructor, Mücahit Aköz shares his experience of delivering iMindMap workshops around Turkey.
How it all started for Mücahit:
From a young age Mücahit has been passionate about learning and memory techniques. In 2009, Mücahit became the youngest Turkish Memory Champion. (And since then has won again!)
As a result of winning the World Memory Championships, Mücahit discovered Mind Mapping and the name behind it all, Tony Buzan. To pursue this avenue further, Mücahit decided to attend the ThinkBuzan Licensed Instructor Course in Mind Mapping, in Bangkok and then went on to attend the ThinkBuzan Licensed Instructor Course in Memory in Henley-on-Thames, near London, UK.
“After attending the ThinkBuzan Licensed Instructor Course, I began giving Mind Mapping lectures all over the country to increase awareness about Mind Mapping and creative thinking.”
“My delegates are people including college students to business owners. During my workshops I like to focus on the ideas behind Mind Mapping. Every attendee can apply the technique to his/her own specialist areas. Mind Mapping allows you to discover different kinds of thinking concepts. They allow you to generate individual, inspirational and creative ideas- that are easy to memorize. Mind Mapping has enabled me to become two times Turkish Memory Champion and record holder.”
As well as delivering workshops and studying for his Psychology degree, Mücahit has published two books entitled;
Mind Maps, Düşünce Haritaları 2011, May
Smart Memory, Akıllı Hafıza 2012, October
He has also made appearances on a number of TV shows, to talk about Mind Mapping and memory.
What is next for Mücahit?
“I am currently in the process of working with the Ministry of Education in Turkey with a focus to bring Mind Mapping techniques into the education system. I believe this dream will become reality in the near future.”
Mücahit is also pushing to hold the next World Memory Championships in Turkey. His iMindMap makes a strong case:
